HOW VINNIE VINCENT SQUANDERED HIS STARDOM

When onetime rock stars move Nashville-way, it's usually to launch a second career as a songwriter, get a gig as a sideman, do sessions, or reclaim their fame in an industry town where having a youthful appearance and cutting-edge relevance aren't always make-or-break requirements. Take Darius Rucker, who — once mocked and maligned as lead singer for Hootie & the Blowfish — has recently celebrated a meteoric rise to the riches of pop-country Babylon after spending a decade as a pop-culture punch line.

When former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent moved to Middle Tennessee in the mid-1990s, he might've imagined himself making headlines in guitar magazines by remarketing his trademarked Vinnie Vincent Double V ax, or penning hits that would chart as high for a country star like Garth Brooks as "Lick It Up" and "I Love It Loud" did for KISS, or using his renowned chops as a shredder in the studio. Vinnie Vincent — aka Vincent Cusano; aka "The Ankh Warrior" — accomplished none of these things.

GENE SIMMONS CRIES, SHARES REGRET AT FATHER'S GRAVE

On Tuesday night’s “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” Simmons returned to his birthplace in Israel to attend to what he called “unfinished business.” That business included a heartbreaking visit to his father’s grave.

Despite having offered his father some financial support over the years, Simmons had never visited the man since his parents split when he was a small child. The estrangement became a point of regret for Simmons as a letter from his father was read aloud at the cemetary.

“My very dear son, in the beginning of my letter I must thank you for your very helpful support of me,” the message read.
While the letter went on to praise Simmons’ children and partner, Shannon Tweed, the rocker broke down.
“I was so stupid,” he cried. “I don’t know why I didn’t go to see him.”
Eventually Simmons was left alone, except for the cameras, as he fell to his knees and repeated, “I’m so sorry.”

VINNIE VINCENT CHARGES "RETIRED"

Hey, soldiers of the KISS Army, are y’all psyched for Vinnie Vincent’s court appearance tomorrow? Well, don’t be, as the domestic abuse case against the former KISS guitarist and “Ankh Warrior” — aka Vincent Cusano — has been temporarily “retired.”

Cusano was scheduled to appear in Rutherford County Criminal Court tomorrow to answer aggravated domestic assault charges stemming from a May 21, 2011 incident in which the Ankh Warrior allegedly smacked his wife Diane in the face before dragging her by her hair through a pile of broken glass and throwing her to the ground repeatedly at the couple’s Smyrna home — where authorities subsequently found the entombed carcasses of four dogs. Animal cruelty charges were not pursued against the couple, effectively clearing them of any wrongdoing as far as that bizarre detail is concerned.

As for those domestic assault charges — well, it appears Cusano has struck a deal with the state, temporarily retiring the case for a year (or 11 months and 29 days, to be specific), eventually giving the guitarist an opportunity to “petition the Court to dismiss [the] case and expunge the pertinent records as provided by law,” in exchange for undergoing a whopping eight weeks of anger management therapy.

KISS PARTY IN ALICANTE, SPAIN

We are Xarly and Mauricio, two KISS fans from Spain. We decided that it was time to pay tribute to our favourite band by organizing a KISS party in our city, Alicante. With the help and collaboration of KISS Army Spain, the event named “ALACANT ROCK CITY” will be held next July 16st, at the Sala Stereo in Alicante, SPAIN. The Spanish tribute band KISS FEVER BAND will headline the concert with a great set full of KISS Klassics, and the local group Azöte will open the night playing several KISS songs too. KISS Army Spain will be attending and will have their own stand. There will be merchandise for sale, KISS girls, and more things…

SHARON OSBOURNE CONFRONTS GENE SIMMONS

It's not quite on the level of last week's Joy Behar Show debacle, but this clip from Gene Simmons' appearance on Monday's episode of The Talk is worth at least a wince. In it, co-host Sharon Osbourne calls Simmons out for "many, many years ago" saying that unlike the kids on The Osbournes, his kids (as seen on Gene Simmons Family Jewels) are not on drugs and for calling Ozzy Osbourne "sad."

While it's kind of amazing to watch celebrities drop the veneer of politeness and discuss their beef openly and civilly on daytime television, their exchange is tone deaf. First of all, Osbourne's kids were on drugs. And maybe Ozzy isn't a sad person, but feeling sad after watching someone whose job is communicating with the public basically struggle to have a coherent conversation is a completely reasonable response.

Finally, after Simmons apologizes, he assures Osbourne, "Your family is your business and no one has a right to say anything about them." This is untrue, as parading your family through pop culture grants everyone the de facto right to comment as they see fit. It may not be ideal, but that's the way it is, and to assume otherwise betrays Osbourne's image as a media savvy businesswoman. For such a gutsy broad, she has an awfully thin skin.

Ace Frehley will play the Ribs On The River Fest at the Total Trib Ampitheater in Pittsburgh, PA tonight (June 17) and the Slinger Rocks Festival in Slinger, WI on Saturday, June 18th.

Frehley will make an appearance at the Days Of The Dead horror convention, taking place July 1st - 3rd at the Wyndham Indianapolis West in Indianapolis, Indiana.

KISS GENE SIMMONS' SUNBURNT ASS ON KISS KRUISE

From observing the musical cruise trend, it's becoming quite clear that no species of rocker is afraid of the high seas and sunshine. In the past year we've bid "Bon Voyage" to the hippies (Jam Cruise), the hipsters (Bruise Cruise), and the hair band-ers (Bret Michaels' Super Cruise) as they've departed from South Florida aboard massive rage-able vessels. Still, it comes as a bit of a surprise to see that the good folks of the satanic nerd squad that is the KISS Army are going to be coming out of their darkened, glittery lairs to brave the waves and the light of day for the upcoming KISS Kruise this October (tickets just went on sale). We thought that the brightest lights that bunch could tolerate were the fireballs of the band's stage show.

VINNIE VINCENT ALLOWED TO RETURN HOME

SMYRNA, Tenn. -- The former guitarist for the band KISS will be allowed to go back to his home in Smyrna, but he can't live there.

Vinnie Vincent, whose real name is Vincent Cusano, was in court Thursday along with his wife. Last week, police arrested Cusano on suspicion of beating his wife and dragging her through broken glass a little more than a week ago. His wife, Diane, was covered with blood when sheriff’s deputies arrived, they said.
Dead dogs in sealed containers were also found, but it was determined the animals were killed by a more aggressive dog, officials said.

In court, both sides agreed Cusano can return to the family property but he will live in a separate home. The judge also allowed Cusano to visit the main house, but only if his wife is not there.

Cusano is scheduled to appear back in court on aggravated domestic assault charges later this month.

Cusano was a member of KISS between 1982 and 1984.

KISS CONCERT SET
This "Kiss concert set" might be the most rare and most sought after Kiss collectible in existance. It combines the very rare JC Penny collectors items, the toy guitar and the amp in one "concert set". It has been seen only once on display at an early Kiss convention, a photo of it was pictured in a Fanzine from the early '90s. This picture was an additional picture in this auction on eBay for a wireless microphone.

KISS IN SACRAMENTO
The tendency goes to more and more expensive tickets. In Sacramento there were tables with chairs in front of the stage for the VIP's. It seems that some people saw a Kiss concert for dinner. The first raw of the "general admission" was far, far back as it can be seen in this clip from the soundcheck.
