GENE & PAUL ON BILL AUCOINS PASSING

Bill Aucoin, our irreplaceable original manager, mentor and dear friend has died of complications arising from his ongoing battle with prostate cancer. He was instrumental in guiding us from the beginning and without his vision, leadership and unending dedication, we could never have scaled the heights we have reached.

Bill loved life and lived it to the fullest. Words can never convey his impact on us or those close to him.

Over all the years, he never missed an opportunity to be with us at our shows near his home or fly in for special concerts, including our most recent Madison Square Garden show. He had hoped to attend our London show earlier this month but his illness prevented it. He still planned to visit us upon the start of our upcoming US tour.

We loved him, told him and have peace that he knew it.
We will grieve and celebrate all he was and did.
We have lost a part of us.

FORMER KISS MANAGER BILL AUCOIN DEAD AT 66

As reported, earlier today, Lydia Criss, former wife of original KISS drummer Peter Criss has issued the following:

"Dear Friends and Colleagues:
It is my sad duty to inform you that Bill Aucoin passed away in Florida this morning (Monday, June 28th) due to complications from Cancer & Diverticulitis.
We heard that there will be a service in NYC, but we don't know the details.
Lydia Criss."

An official press release states:
William Aucoin, beloved record industry executive, manager, entrepreneur, and creative visionary, passed away this morning, Monday, June 28th at 9:11 AM (EST) at the Aventura Hospital and Medical Center in Aventura, FL.

Born December 29th, 1943, Bill was battling prostate cancer, and passed away from surgical complications.

The man known for masterminding the career of the world-renowned group KISS, Bill Aucoin also managed STARZ, TOBY BEAU, BILLY SQUIER, BILLY IDOL, and numerous other artists.

His most recent venture is Aucoin Globe Entertainment, which he founded in 2007 (www.aucoinglobe.com). In its three years, Bill and his company developed bands in the US and around the world.

He leaves behind his boyfriend of fifteen years, Roman Fernandez, and two sisters Betty Britton and Janet Bankowski.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

NEW 70'S LARGO PRO SHOT SURFACES
After 31-years an excerpt from the long lost July 7, 1979 KISS performance at the Capitol Centre in Landover, Maryland has been released to promote the vintage KISS memorabilia auctions of eBay seller EliteWorks. This is from the first of two sold-out nights in Landover and only the fifth show of the Dynasty Tour. This is the earliest known KISS live footage from the Dynasty Tour. Former KISS Super Roadie Bill McMannus is heard revealing all of KISS's production secrets on the audio commentary.

Please note: All previously circulated footage from KISS Largo 79 comes from the July 8 concert (including the mislabeled bonus disc on KISSOLOGY II). This is the very first time any footage from the July 7 performance has been seen in any capacity.

Last month we posted an article about KISS appearing in the weekly touring industry periodical Performance Magazine (1969-1998). We posted links to Performance Magazine auctions which sold for several hundred dollars each as even the most die-hard of KISS collectors had never seen these print ads, centerfolds, cover stories, etc. Now another set of KISS related Performance Magazine auctions have popped up on eBay including the very first U.S. KISS cover story from February 1975 and a Rock And Roll Over era issue with an official promotional KISS iron-on.

KISS IN BARCELONA

Here is a report from my friend Thierry

The "Palau Sant Jordi" contained about 11,000 people. KISS reached the peaks in these last days of the actual European tour. The performance was an incredible intensity, the sound was tuned to perfection, the voices were perfectly clear, the show was simply one of the best in this tour, according to my friend Titi THE best, KISS show he attended (and they are many).

Gene has been the victim of a small incident to the end of "I Love it Loud". The system not working, Gene was unable to get dwon from the platform. Paul was very professional &  performing a full minute of "Forever". During the encores, "Beth" was also interpreted. Paul asks, then, his faithful "What do you want to Hear now?" The thirty people biefed in advance by my friend Titi shout it out loud "SHAN DI-SHAN DI”. The appeal was heard, KISS played then entirely "Shandi". Awesome!

The Spanish atmosphere was like its usual, excellent & extremely caliente. For this last concert of the tour in Europe Sonic Boom, KISS was just fabulous and a gave full credit to its reputation as the greatest & hottest rock band in the world.

NEW LOVE GUN TOUR/ROADIE DOCUMENTARY SURFACES
Excerpts from A Day In The Life Of KISS - an unreleased documentary about touring with the band during their 1970s heyday have surfaced online to promote the vintage KISS memorabilia auctions of eBay seller EliteWorks. The documentary was produced by the late Bill McMannus (whose company supplied services to KISS from 1976-81) as part of an instructional film on the touring industry.

Up for auction this week are KISS's very first publicity shot from January 1973, a blood drenched KISS set list from Memphis, 1970s KISS cover stories from Performance Magazine, signed items by KISS founders Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss, rare KISS vinyl singles and promotional LPs as well as vintage KISS guitar picks and much more.

KISS AT THE HELLFEST
The Hellfest took place last weekend in Clisson (near Nantes in France). It is a yearly 3 day event. Each day around 23.000 fans showed up making it a big success. Kiss closed the Hellfest yesterday. Here you can see videos from the concert on YouTube.

The closing KISS show in the Hellfest was simply awesome. In a sold out festival the band & the audience group sang the national anthem 'La Marseillaise' just before 'Cold Gin'.
The usual set list has been interpreted, Beth has not been performed.
A fabulous fireworks at the end Rock'n'Roll all Nite was standing honoring a magnificent show of KISS and this successful 3 days festival.

"SHANDI" LIVE IN OSLO
Here you can see Kiss performing Shandi in the sold out Vallhall, Oslo for the very first time during the Sonic Boom over Europe tour. The song was not played in its entirity, it was more like a teaser. The song was played unexpectedly during the encore, and the crowd went crazy.

KISS LEAVING GRAND HOTEL IN STOCKHOLM

Hey everybody! I just arrived from Stockholm where KISS played an awesome gig in the front of 30 000 people, fireworks, pyros looked great and the band played so tight!
I was lucky enough to meet and see them outside of Grand Hotel when Kiss was leaving Stockholm. They had a gig in Malmö city and you can notice there were camera group with them because they take shots for Family Jewels, also Nick Simmons, all Stanley family etc. It was awesome moment when Thayer shook my hand!

It does not get much bigger than this.
90,000 people in one place listening to one of the world's biggest Rock bands, KISS.

It was a pleasure to be there. The weather was great, the beer was cold, and the show was fantastic. The concert was also networked live on MTV, with many other broadcasters also being present.

Of course Tommy's Hughes & Kettner Tommy Thayer Signature Duotone amps sounded great! The big bonus is that we were also able to interview Tommy Thayer (and his guitar tech Jim Survis) stage-side during the afternoon.

In Oberhausen I talked Doc McGhee (Kiss Manager). He said there will also be a Kissology 5 and 6, and they will make a new album next year. In 2011 or 2012 there will probably be another Moscow Music Peace Festival (like in 1989) and Kiss should be part of it.

KISS ON GERMAN TV ON SATURDAY AGAIN
Kiss will be featured this Saturday (June 12) on DASDING.tv. There will be an interview and live-footage to be seen. The live-footage is the same as already seen on EinsPlus. The interview was re-edited and includes new sequences. In total there will be 7 minutes of Kiss to be seen.

The report will be on Saturday at 10:45am and it will be repeated the following night (Saturday/Sunday) at 3:30 am on SWR.

Looking at the schedule of the 2010 European Tour of KISS, it sure makes you wonder how long this band will still be on the road presenting the hottest show on planet earth! A couple of years ago, during the KISS Alive 35 World Tour, we were treated with the live presentation of the legendary Alive! Album in its entirety. Last year KISS released the excellent –and already a favorite among the KISS fans- “Sonic Boom” and they embarked on a world tour that hit Europe in the spring under the tour title “Sonic Boom Over Europe”. The show was hosted in the prestigious, modern indoor Papp Laszlo Budapest Sportarena that holds approximately 12.500 and the ticket prices ranged in between 35 and 60 Euros.

SIMMONS DENIES MAKEUP ARTISTS CLAIMS

LOS ANGELES, June 4 (UPI) -- Rock star and TV personality Gene Simmons is denying claims by a makeup artist who said he assaulted her while visiting ESPN studios in Los Angeles.

Victoria Jackson filed a lawsuit against Simmons in Los Angeles Superior Court May 27, demanding the KISS frontman pay her $500,000 in damages for an assault Simmons said never took place.

Jackson said Simmons sexually assaulted her by grinding against her when he was in the ESPN studio to appear on "ESPN SportsCenter" before a KISS concert last November.

Simmons denies this could have happened since he was wearing full KISS makeup and costume, including a codpiece, at the time of the alleged incident.

"I have no idea who this woman is and I deny her allegations," Simmons said in a statement Friday. "I was only at the ESPN studios for a very short time, perhaps a half-hour, and was accompanied by KISS' drummer Eric Singer the entire time. I will not stand by and allow this baseless allegation to go unchallenged."

"Gene denies that any assault took place or that Ms. Jackson suffered any injuries attributable to any action on his part," Simmons' attorney, Barry E. Mallen, said. "Mr. Simmons intends to defend himself aggressively and he looks forward to refuting Ms. Jackson's charges in the courtroom."

ROCK AM RING
Kiss played yesterday at the "Rock am Ring" festival in Germany in front of 85.000 fans! The concert was shown live on "Eins Plus" and "MTV" all over Europe and there was also a worldwide live-stream on the internet available.

Many cameras captured the show from many angles, great camera work! Kiss were also interviewed before the show on "Eins Plus".
MTV has cut off the broadcast at the end of the last song. According to this site the Kiss concert will be repeated this night at 2:45 am (maybe uncut this time?).
