KISS TOUR RECRUITS NEW GENERATION OF FANS
(from pennlive.com)
Hot dogs. Apple pie. Chevrolet. And ... Kiss?

Quite so, according to Kiss drummer Eric Singer, who argued the band is an integral part of American culture.

“Kiss has become a part of Americana. It’s very much a part of the American landscape,” he said during a recent phone interview. “When you come to a show, it’s like taking the kids to Disneyland. There is that kind of spirit at the shows.”

KISS PUTS ON A NEW FACE

(from The Morning Call)
Four years ago, when Kiss frontman and co-founder Paul Stanley was promoting his first solo disc in 28 years and first solo tour ever, he said in an interview that slipping sales and flagging interest in any Kiss music besides the hits made him doubt the band would ever again record a new album.

It had already been eight years since Kiss recorded "Psycho Circus," the first disc featuring the band's original members in nearly 20 years, amid a five-year reunion tour that brought Stanley and co-founder Gene Simmons back together with former members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.

Fast-forward to today.

KissInot only recorded a new album, "Sonic Boom," in 2009, but it became the group's highest-charting disc ever, reaching No. 2 on Billboard's albums chart.

SHAMELESS ON TOUR

Attention European rock fans. TUFF/SHAMELESS set to embark on tour August-September 2010.

The group will be fronted by Sunset Strip veteran - TUFF vocalist Stevie Rachelle. The SHAMELESS bookends on bass & guitar will be Alexx Michael and his partner in crime BC. Also on board will be TUFF member Jimi “Gunz” Lord who played drums for the band during the “Religious Fix” years. The set will be filled with fan favorites from the TUFF Glam Rock classic debut “What Comes Around…Goes Around”. Tracks included will be “The All New Generation”, “I Hate Kissing You Goodbye”, “So Many Seasons” and the new millenniums global mega smash “American Hair Band”. The SHAMELESS tunes to be featured are “Non Stop City”, “Steal The Girlz” & the Munich based bands most downloaded track, “Queen For A Day”.

The groups past tours have featured Bruce Kulick of KISS (2000), Steve Summers of Pretty Boy Floyd (2007) and Davy Vain of VAIN showed up and jammed with the group in Germany (2009). This year will be no different, as the tour looks to welcome a yet to be named special guest or two.

This tour is not the first for TUFF/SHAMELESS in Europe, but it will be their first ever appearances in Belgium, France, and Scandinavian when the tour wraps up at Sweden’s “Stockholm Rockout Festival” on Saturday September 11th.

“There is a reason for us doing these European tours” says the TUFF singer. “The fans love it. They came to see us in the past, and they will be back again this year. The fans ultimately get two bands in one and really appreciate the vast amount of great pop glam rock songs.” TUFF and SHAMELESS combined have released over a dozen discs of music, and have a catalog of over 20 releases (including DVDs) in the last 20 years.

“We are beyond excited to play for our European fans. Especially Sweden, France & Belgium as these will be new stops for us. We cannot wait.” adds Alexx Michael “We have friends and fans on every continent and we vow that South America and Japan are next!”

Here is a video of Shameless featuring Bruce Klick live in Munich at a Kiss Expo in 2000:

KISS' TOURING BLUES GOODBYE

(from caller.com)
— The summer concert scene so far has been peppered with reports of tours that are doing worse-than-expected business, with some major tours — such as the Eagles and Lilith Fair — having to scrap some shows and Limp Bizkit and Christina Aguilera canceling tours altogether.

Kiss guitarist Tommy Thayer though, hasn’t experienced the touring blues sensation.

“We haven’t been affected like most all the other bands,” Thayer said. “Kiss is recession proof, I guess. We’re selling lots of tickets and most other bands are canceling their tours. So we’re lucky in that regard.”

Thayer said a lot was going on in the lives of bandmates including Gene’s show, “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” and several national promotions, including commercials for Dr Pepper.

LEGENDS GOLF CLASSIC HOSTED BY TOMMY THAYER WILL SET EVENT RECORD FOR PARTICIPATION
(Pacific University Oregon)
Fourth annual event to be attended by KISS founding member Gene Simmons.

Pacific University's 2010 Legends Golf Classic hosted by Tommy Thayer, slated for August 1 and 2 at the Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club, is sold out, marking an unprecedented milestone in the event's history.

More than 400 patrons, celebrity guests and sponsors will attend Sunday night's auction, dinner and private concert. On Monday, 185 attendees will participate in a golf clinic led by PGA professional Tommy Masters before hitting the links for the scramble-format tournament.

The sellout is the first in the event's four-year history, equating to a record attendance figure.

"We are very proud of the enormous response the 2010 Legends Golf Classic has received," KISS lead guitarist and Pacific Trustee Thayer said. "The early sellout clearly indicates that Legends and Pacific University have ascended to a new level of public awareness. Legends 2010 has already succeeded in many ways and the best is yet to come."

Among the list of celebrity participants are KISS founding member Gene Simmons and his partner Shannon Tweed. Producers from A&E's hit television series Gene Simmons Family Jewels will film portions of the event to chronicle golf novice Simmons' attempt at the sport.

Legends Golf Classic host and KISS lead guitarist Tommy Thayer, a member of Pacific University's Board of Trustees, has made Legends a success since its inception in 2007. Over its first three years, Legends has raised more than $400,000 for Pacific's 21-sport NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics program, which will field a football team this fall for the first time in 19 years. Founded in 1849, Pacific University is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the West. Steeped in a rich tradition of liberal arts, Pacific is a nationally recognized leader in research, education and healthcare.

For millions of Americans, KISS concerts are a tradition. You go, you watch Gene Simmons breathe fire and spit blood, things explode, you listen to Paul Stanley's amazingly brash between-song banter, more things explode, you sing along to "Rock and Roll All Nite," have about as much fun as is legally possible at an arena, and then experience the spectacle again the next time the band is in town.

No one would ever accuse Kiss of being respectable, but the notoriously face-painted rockers have lately been on the receiving end of something rare and strange.

"Our current stage show is the greatest one we've done — and that's not just coming from the fans, it's coming from the critics," bragged co-founder Paul Stanley. "Which is surprising to us, because we've certainly never been a band like that or built our following on that."

CC BANANA COVERS "SPIT" FOR NEW TRIBUTE ALBUM
(from Split Screen Entertainment)
Rock & roll comic C.C. Banana, known for his outrageous interviews with rockers and other celebrities, becomes the latest addition to the upcoming tribute album WHOLE LOTTA LOVE: An All-Star Salute To Fat Chicks. C.C. performs a faithful rendition of the underground Kiss track "Spit," a song from their 1992 album "Revenge." Originally sung by Gene Simmons (with an assist from Paul Stanley), "Spit" is an unapologetic rock & roll rant about the pleasures of pleasuring a large-sized lady. It is also the second Kiss song covered by C.C. Banana in his brief music career, the first being a parody of "Unholy," rewritten as a roast of Danger Danger frontman Ted Poley and appearing on the 2008 album "KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent." C.C. has amended the title of the track from "Spit" to "Split," in deference to his unique banana pedigree. A sample of the song is now available at the official WHOLE LOTTA LOVE MySpace page.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE KISS AUCTIONS ON EBAY
Here are some of the most expensive Kiss auctions listed on eBay at the moment:

Paul Stanley's Gibson Les Paul guitar, which he supposedly smashed at the first concert without make-up in Portugal 1983 is available for 6.000 Pounds. This is what the description in the auction says:

This one has a particular and unique story: it was owned by Paul Stanley, played and smashed on the very first night KISS performed without wearing makeup (this was in Cascais, Portugal on November 10th 1983) !... The guitar was professionally repaired but the crack has not been repainted, so that history isn't erased... it's there for you to see... the fact that the guitar has a great action and has been stringed since then says something about the repair job quality.

I GO TO KISS' THIRD REHEARSAL
(from The Huffington Post)
During the last years of the '60s and start of the '70s, I went to the famous High School of Music & Art in Harlem, USA. It was way the heck uptown in the middle of CCNY's campus. Music & Art was a specialized school that catered to kids with aptitude in one or the other from all of New York City's five boroughs. I would travel 45 minutes on the rush-hour IRT subway from Brooklyn Heights each morning.

KISS CITY TOUR GUITAR PICKS
KissCityPics.jpg (90042 Byte)"Forget the white picks! These are the Collectors' Collectibles!" -- Paul Stanley

You rocked with KISS on the historic Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour. Now own the ultimate tour collectible - KISS commemorative city tour guitar picks! For the first time ever, limited-edition KISS city picks were made for each tour stop. These special KISS picks feature the country's flag with KISS logo, city and date of show on the front side and band member's signature on the back.

Only a very small quantity of these KISS city tour picks are left from each show and are now available exclusively at KISSpickworld.com

"The new custom tour city guitar picks are a special addition to our usual arsenal of KISS picks. We had just a few to throw out onstage each night of the European tour. I told my guitar tech to save a couple for me!" - Tommy Thayer

Each pick is limited to a maximum of only 200 made, and they will never be made again! The only remaining picks are the ones that were not thrown out to the crowd by KISS or kept by the band members for their own collections. To put how limited these picks are in perspective, note that a normal KISS tour pick is produced by the thousands, and in some cases, tens of thousands during the course of a tour.

There is also a bonus guitar pick for each city that includes a KISS concert photo and signature alternating between Paul or Gene's. Collectors will also note that this is the first tour in KISStory in which KISS has used the German KISS logo on their tour picks!

"I love the way these picks look! What a great souvenir from each show. I threw these out every night when we'd come out to bow before the encore." - Eric Singer

Paul Stanley's guitar tech, Fran Stewart, told us that once people realized how rare these picks were, local crew and stage hands were taking them from the mic stands before KISS hit the stage. The techs then resorted to handing the picks directly to the band members while they were on stage to keep them from being stolen.

Because these picks are in such demand, we expect bootleg versions will soon be circulating. Be sure to order directly from KISSpickworld.com to guarantee you'll receive an authentic KISS city pick, Only the genuine KISS city tour picks include a bonus, foil-embossed KISS Tour Guitar Picks collectible card, featuring the corresponding country's flag and a statement of authenticity. These beautiful cards are collectibles in their own rights.

"Straight from the KISS stage to you...the ultimate KISS Tour guitar picks!" - Gene Simmons
