“The Great KISS Off" Long Lost 1974 Promo/Event Poster Surfaces
For The First Time in 28 Years!
When: May 12, 1974 — 42 years ago!
Where: Grand Ballroom @ Hotel Diplomat in New York, NY
Event: The Great KISS Off - NY Edition
A highly-sought after May 1974 promotional/event poster for “The Great KISS Off”
has finally surfaced through music memrobilia dealer EliteWorks on eBay. This official
Casablanca Records promo poster was printed to promote the May 1974 kissing contests that
were associated with the band’s first tour. However, since KISS were only three
months into their career, and these contests were done through mostly Top 40 stations, no
one really knew who the band were or that the contests were afflicted with a rock band.
Therefore, the posters were trashed. However, the boyfriend of one of Peter Criss’s
sisters wound up with one of the posters and it was stored in a poster tube in his
mother’s basement for forty years. This is the first time the poster is being sold on
eBay or even in the modern age.
The only other known Great KISS Off poster to have surfaced was in 1988 and that was sold
to a private individual in Italy. None of the current Super KISS Collectors own this
poster.
The real Great KISS Off auction ends this Sunday.

THE BEST KNOWN LIVE 1974 KISS RECORDING IN EXISTENCE In March 1974, Kiss performed
Nothin' to Lose, Firehouse, and Black Diamond on ABC's In Concert program, their first
television appearance. On April 29th, the band performed Firehouse on The Mike Douglas
Show. This broadcast included Simmons first televised interview, a conversation with
Douglas in which Simmons declared himself evil incarnate, eliciting titters from an
uncomfortable and largely confused studio audience. In-between these two TV performances
the band played at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland Ohio, on April 1st 74, in support of
Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher, a show broadcast across the greater Ohio Area by WMMS-FM,
as part of their Nights Out At The Agora series, letting local rock fans who didnt attend
sample a taste of this outrageous new act. This album contains all of the performances
mentioned above - the entire Agora show - for the first time ever on CD - and the two
television appearances - including the hilarious Mike Douglas interview.

Frightmare Weekend this April 29-May 1, 2016 to meet and greet fans in a rare appearance.
In addition to playing drums in the band, Peter also provided lead vocals for a number
KISS' most popular and memorable songs including Beth, Black Diamond, and Hard Luck Woman.
Peter's Catman persona is an instantly recognizable icon in pop culture.
"After hosting an appearance by Ace Frehley at our 2014 event we've been flooded with
requests to bring in Peter Criss," says Texas Frightmare Weekend founder Loyd Cryer.
"Our event has always been about fulfilling fans' requests and we are honored that
Peter has agreed to attend."
Peter Criss will attend the event on all three days giving his fans plenty of

BOOK ON "THE ELDER" COMING IN SEPTEMBER 2016
"Odyssey" will offer the
definitive examination of KISS' cult-classic concept album, 1981's "Music From The
Elder"
"Odyssey," the latest book from KissFAQ Publishing, will spotlight
arguably the most controversial album in the KISS catalog, 1981's "Music From The
Elder." Co-authored by Tim McPhate and Julian Gill, the book will be published in
September 2016 to coincide with the album's 35th anniversary.
Through a series of long-form interviews and topical features, "Odyssey" will
offer the definitive examination of KISS' lone concept album, which has attained
cult-classic status among a segment of diehard fans.

Ranging from legendary producer Bob Ezrin to "Elder" door maker Bill Finneran
and spoken word contributor Christopher Makepeace, the book's long-form interviews were
conducted with individuals who either worked on the project or have a connection of sorts,

interviews provide unique perspectives regarding the album's creative process and legacy,
in addition to fun anecdotes and personal recollections. A full list of book interviews
will be announced at a later date.
The book's topical features will shed more light on KISS' activity in 1981 and
early 1982 and dissect the album further with in-depth musical analysis, a comprehensive
summary of the album, biographical information on the album's participants, details on the
aborted companion "Elder" film, and much more.
While "Music From The Elder" has been mentioned in various music publications
and KISS-related books, there has never been a published work that has put this album
under a historical microscope. "Odyssey" will offer readers a complete synopsis
of "Music From The Elder" and an unobstructed window into this fascinating
period in KISStory.
