This was in Eric's personal band drawings which he saved. The band would always find time to draw or make doodles at their recording and rehearsal sessions. All of the the band members were very good artist.

As you can see this is a black marker drawing of Eric Carr and out of a bubble on the side of Eric  is  written ( by Stanley)....

"Let me explain my houses of the Holy Theory".

KISS FILES SUIT OVER UNAUTHORIZED BOOK
Kissonline rports, that Kiss brought suit in the Federal Court in Detroit against Marc Scallatino and a photographer named in an unauthorized book about the rock group KISS containing KISS photographs taken in 1974 to 1981.

Mr. Scallatino was repeatedly warned that an unauthorized publication of "KISS" photographs in a book about "KISS" would violate the exclusive rights of the KISS licensing agent, including the federally registered trademarks covering the distinctive "KISS" logo and the distinctive face paint designed by the members of "KISS." Mr. Scallatino ignored the warnings.

KEN KELLY TALKS ABOUT DESTROYER
(from insideheavy.com)
In 1975 Kiss was riding high on the success of their first live album "Alive". They were about to enter the studios with world renown producer Bob Ezrin to record what would be their most celebrated album ever called "Destroyer". Ken Kelly, famous for his fantasy artwork, was acquired to create the image for the Destroyer album cover. The Destroyer album cover would end up being as striking as the music inside and has since become one of the greatest album covers in hard rock/heavy metal history. Ken Kelly's masterpiece has helped to burn the image of Kiss into the mind of the world!

Ken Kelly is interviewed about the creation of the Kiss Destroyer album cover, which he created two versions of, and reveals the complete back story of how the image was created.

PAUL STANLEY: BOOM TIMES
(from Guitar World)
Originally published in Guitar World, Holiday 2009

Paul Stanley talks about Kiss’ success as a live act and how he and Gene Simmons once again found their old chemistry and made Sonic Boom pure dynamite.

On a recent autumn afternoon, Paul Stanley was relaxing at his L.A. home prior to hitting the road for another leg of Kiss’ Alive 35 tour. He took the occasion to talk with Guitar World about the long and winding road that has brought him and the band from Alive! to Sonic Boom, Kiss’ latest album.

GUITAR WORLD Is it significant that Kiss were propelled to the top of the charts in 1975 by a live album?

PAUL STANLEY Definitely. I think we’ve always been a live animal. What we found back then was that our first three studio albums weren’t selling particularly well, yet we were quickly becoming a band that was selling out live venues everywhere. There was no correlation between our ticket sales and our album sales. It became clear that what was needed was an audio souvenir of the Kiss experience. But I don’t think we could ever have predicted that Alive! would become as big or as important as it did. As soon as it came out, they couldn’t keep it in the stores, because it was the album that everybody who loved the band had been waiting for.

GW Why did you decide to release Sonic Boom as a package with a live DVD and a bonus album of rerecorded Kiss hits [titled Kiss Klassics]?

STANLEY With all the classic Kiss albums, you always got more than just an album. We put in tattoos or posters, or love guns [Love Gun came with a cardboard “love gun” (assembly required)]. Working with Wal-Mart as the exclusive distributor of Sonic Boom put us in a position where we could do more than just put out an album. Wal-Mart made it possible for us to include the disc of 15 classic tracks and the DVD of performances from one of our stadium shows in Buenos Aires.

GW The songs on Sonic Boom seem custom made for big stadiums. “Stand,” in particular is quite anthemic. It’s even got the “Hey Jude,” crowd sing-along ending!

STANLEY At our best, that’s what we do when we write. Actually, I think my style of songwriting comes more from the [late Fifties/early Sixties] days of pop than from heavy metal. I think a song needs a verse, a prechorus and a chorus. These are things that a five-minute guitar solo is never going to take the place of.

GW Your stuff is always pretty classically structured: a good bridge and, as you say, three good verses and a killer chorus.

EUROPEN KISS SHOWS ALSO AVAILABLE ON USB STICK
(from BBC)
Kiss fans who saw the rock band on their 2009 US tour had the chance to take the show home with them in their back pockets when they walked out of the venue.

"We do a multi-track recording of each night and make the recording available on a USB drive right at the end of the show," says Gerrit Schumann from German company Music Networx, which makes the recordings.

"We have USB duplicators that do it pretty much automatically at the venue. We stop recording about half an hour before the end of the show and include a download code, with which the fan can then download the encores and remaining 30 minutes online."

Each stick cost about $20 and an artist will get anywhere between 20-50% of the price, he says. With around 1,000 sticks sold a night at 58 dates last year, that adds up to several hundreds of thousands of dollars for the band.

They will do it all again for their European tour this year, where they will also introduce an instant download-to-mobile option.

Kiss, already the masters of music merchandise, are also selling meet-and-greet gig packages for £905 per person in the UK.

LAWSUIT TO STOP UNAUTHORIZED KISS BOOK
(from nj.com)
by the Associated Press

DETROIT — You gotta file a lawsuit in Detroit Rock City.
A company that controls photos and posters of the rock group Kiss is suing to stop the sale of a book with pictures of the performers.

Kiss Catalog Ltd. says trademarks are being violated by "Vintage Kiss Photos: 1974-1981." The lawsuit names Marc Scallatino of Blackwood, N.J., and photographer Janet Macoska of Cleveland.

Kiss Catalog, based in New York, is asking a judge to shut down vintagekissphotos.com.

Macoska says she sold some Kiss images to Scallatino but warned that he couldn't use them for a book. E-mail messages seeking comment were left Tuesday with Scallatino.

The lawsuit was filed last week in federal court in Detroit, where part of the 1975 Kiss album "Alive!" was recorded at Cobo Arena.

When Kiss became big and famous, they started making their own customized drumsticks and guitar picks. Usually their name/signature and the Kiss logo was engraved into them. They were used in concerts and thrown into the audience sometimes. Those are collectors items as you can see with the Cobo Hall 2009 guitar picks, which are selling like hot cakes on eBay for $ 250,- each!

Drumsticks are extremely rare, because there are usually just one pair of sticks thrown into the audience at the end of each soncert.
The very first customized Peter Criss drumstick from around 1976 is currently listed on eBay

INTERVIEW WITH TOMMY THAYER
(from mydesert.com)
Q: So the last time you were here, it was five years ago. Is that your thing, coming here every five years?

A; That’s right, I’m on the five-year rotation. It’s my style.

Q: What do you remember about your first Bob Hope?

A: I remember how nervous I was the first tee. It was the first time I did a major tournament like that. These days, I’m a little more settled in. I’ve done a few of these. I actually have my own celebrity pro-am up in Oregon. I’ve been around this, so I’m a little more comfortable with this.

Q: This is looking like Oregon weather this week.

A: It’s a little wet, but we can handle that. (Wednesday) is beautiful as long as the wind doesn’t kick up too much. It’s just great to be here.

Q: I was looking up a clip from five years ago and I was joking with you about Kiss’s farewell tour back then, and you just got done with another big tour and an album.

A: Kiss is bigger than ever now. I’m not just saying that. The band had resurgence, a rebirth with a whole new slew of younger Kiss fans. The band is bigger than ever. This last tour, the Kiss Alive 35 Tour, which finished a month ago, we played up in Canada at Quebec City, to 98,000 people, in Ottawa, 50,000. We played all the major arenas in the U.S. for multiple nights, and Europe and South America stadiums. We’re starting again in a couple months in Europe again on the Sonic Boom over Europe tour. Sonic Boom was released in October. I was talking to Rocco Meidate and he said it was one of his favorite new records.

Q: Oh wow, I need to go out and get it.

A: Yeah, if Rocco likes it, you know it’s good.

Q: That’s the gold standard, like the Oprah Book Club?

A; Yeah, exactly. As far as golfers out here, he has some good musical knowledge. There are a lot of other guys too. Shaun Micheel is a buddy of mine and a guitar player. Of course, John Daly. We jam a lot. It’s all good.

Q; These farewell tours, once you say farewell tours, it seems to create more interest, like with the Rolling Stones.

A; I don’t know if what we’re doing now is a farewell tour. That farewell tour was a farewell to the original lineup. That was the end of that. We don’t consider these to be farewell tours, but resurgence.

Q: What do you attribute the resurgence to? I know Gene Simmons has a successful reality show and has been more visible.

A: There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle. It’s a new band, well relatively new with myself and Eric Singer, there’s a new energy to the band. Gene’s show is done really well. We’ve done a lot of network TV. American Idol finale, Adam Lambert sang with us. It’s just a lot of different things. TV commercial, Dr. Pepper, we shot a new one and it’s going to debut at the Super Bowl this year. All kind of profile awareness and it’s adding up. We also have songs on Guitar Hero and Rock Band. That’s a big deal.

BRUCE KULICK: BK3 REVIEW
(from sleazeroxx.com)
If you're keeping count you know that this is guitarist Bruce Kulick's third solo effort, hence the BK3 title. Okay, it's not the most of original of titles I know, but Bruce has always been a laid back, low-key kind of guy, so the name isn't surprising.

From 1984 to 1996 Bruce Kulick was the lead guitarist for Kiss, and since then he's gone on to form Union with John Corabi (formerly of Motley Crue and The Scream) who released a pair of studio albums and a live effort. Union ultimately disbanded and the axe-slinger went on to Grand Funk Railroad, where he has been since 2001. Kulick has remained inconspicuous but still active playing guitar, writing songs, touring and making special appearances on other people's albums from time to time.

On BK3 Kulick has written and recorded his best solo record to date. The songs are well crafted, strong, memorable and catchy. While his vocals have come a long way from his singing debut on Kiss' "I Walk Alone", he won't be competing with Rob Halford, Ronnie James Dio or even Paul Stanley anytime soon. "No Friend Of Mine", where we hear Kulick and Corabi team up once again, is one of the stand-out tracks and is close to what we might hear from the duo if Union was still active today. It's a powerful and emotional track that will please both Union and Corabi fans. "Ain't Gonna Die" is a song that grew on me as I didn't love it when I first heard it. Gene Simmons is the featured singer on that track and it is a cross between Revenge and Carnival Of Souls era Kiss. I also enjoy "I'm The Animal", which features the drumming of Eric Singer and a powerful vocal performance and chorus from Edguy and Avantasia frontman Tobias Sammet. Another noteworthy track is the instrumental "Between The Lines" where Kulick trades licks with Steve Luthaker, it's a melodic song and not so over the top that it turns into a wankfest.

BK3 is an eclectic record as there are rockers, ballads, mid-tempo tracks and an instrumental. Bruce Kulick transformed what could have been an average effort into a very good one by scanning his rolodex and busting out a few phone calls. This album isn't just for Kiss and Union fans, because if you like melodic hard rock then BK3 is a worthy investment.

BRUCE KULICK "BK3" REVIEW
(from Metal Temple)
Well, KISS released a new album this year and it was time for ex-members related to unleash their own stuff too? Ace Frehley threw "Anomaly" to the table and Bruce Kulick serves "BK3"; who’s next, really? Have you seen e.g. Vinnie Vincent lately working on something? ... Don’t tell me it’s just a coincidence, I would not bet my money on this.

INTERVIEW WITH BRUCE KULICK
from blogtalkradio)
Bruce Kulick is probably best known for the dozen years he spent as the lead guitarist in KISS. As the only guitarist in KISS history not to don makeup, Kulick performed on such Eighties hits as 'Hot In the Shade', 'Asylum' and 'Crazy Nights', but it was 1992's 'Revenge' that provided that lineup's defining moment. When the original KISS reunited thereafter, Kulick moved on to play with former Motley Crue vocalist John Corabi in Union. He has released two solo albums, 'Audio Dog' and 'Transformer', and he stays busy with a wide range of studio work. Bruce is also the lead guitarist in Grand Funk Railroad, with a full touring schedule each year. In February he will release his third solo album, entitled 'BK3'. Boasting a guest list that includes Gene Simmons and Nick Simmons, Steve Lukather, John Corabi, Eric Singer and more, the album is Kuilck's most fully realized solo work to date. Bruce Kulick joins us on Long Live Rock to discuss 'BK3', his career, and his upcoming endeavors.

GENE SIMMONS BRINGS STAR POWER TO NAMM

(from The Orange County Register)

Gene Simmons swung his Axe Bass over his shoulder for a few moments. He then switched to the other side. Later, he dropped the bass down, holding a stance.
With each pose, the musician pursed his lips, mugging for the many cameras that bunched around him. Simmons, the co-founder of Kiss, was the first celebrity to make an official appearance to the NAMM Show, a major music products convention that is expecting to draw more than 85,000 people to the Anaheim Convention Center.

GENE TO DEFEND AGAINST FALSE ALLEGATIONS

(from genesimmons.com)
Barry E. Mallen, an attorney at the law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, is representing Gene Simmons against a complaint filed on December 24, 2009 by Nathaniel Marlowe and Cynthia Manzo arising out of an alleged assault Marlowe and Manzo contend took place the afternoon of December 19, 2009 at the Grove shopping complex in Los Angeles. Mallen described the Complaint filed by Marlowe and Manzo as "opportunistic" and "riddled with distortions and false accusations." The complaint stems from events which occurred after Gene Simmons, Shannon Tweed, his partner of 26 years, and their seventeen year old daughter, Sophie, exited the movie theater at the Grove complex and were accosted by the thin, tall, tattooed Marlowe, who jumped at them and started yelling in their faces. While Simmons and his family attempted to walk away from their pursuer, Marlowe repeatedly converged upon them, while screaming and aiming a small electronic device at them.

Simmons asked the aggressor to keep his distance, but undeterred, the agitated Marlowe continued to approach Simmons while moving closer to Simmons' minor daughter. When Marlowe approached Simmons' daughter for the second time, Simmons, fearing for Sophie's safety, placed himself between his daughter and Marlowe, grabbed the device out of Marlowe's hand and moved Marlowe aside so his family could reach their car. Marlowe's companion, Cynthia Manzo, joined him in the traumatic incident that ruined the Simmons' family outing.

Simmons is appalled that people who attacked his family are suing him, claiming personal injuries, loss of consortium, and citing "emotional distress," when none of those charges are true. According to Mallen, "we look forward to meeting these charges in the court room and proving them false."

ACE FREHLEY INTERVIEW

(from rockmusicstar.com)

Ex-Kiss guitarist, Ace Frehley is back with his first solo release in 18 years called "Anomaly." One of his well publicized objectives in recording and writing this CD was to recapture the “vibe” of his fan favorite 1978 solo debut release. He most certainly achieved that goal. "Anomaly" most certainly has Ace returning to his vintage signature sound and style.
We had the priviledge here at RockMusicStar.com to talk with Ace and discuss his new release and much more. Check out our conversation below and check back here at RockMusicStar.com for more updates on Ace Frehley.

RockMusicStar: First of all, I want to congratulate you on your new CD, from what I heard of it, it's absolutely mind-blowing and this is coming from a life long KISS fan. You’re back and I absolutely love it. I’m sure you’re getting that response from your fans.

Ace Frehley: I put my heart and soul into this record. I started tracking in 2007, it’s been a long process, in the middle of writing, in the middle of recording; I decided to do a tour in 2008. I went over to Europe twice and Canada then came back, finished it up and went out to L.A. to mix it. It’s everything I wanted it to be and more.
