FREHLEY FOR DOWNLOAD

Original Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley has decided on the
title of his new solo album, due this spring. It’s going to be called Pain In The
Neck.
In an interview with Classic Rock’s sister title, the Akron Beacon Journal, Frehley said he took his first solo record – released way back in 1978 – as inspiration for this latest offering.
"I've been listening to my first solo album with Kiss. I was trying to figure out what made it so special, so I'm trying to incorporate a lot of what that record had for this new CD," he said.
Frehley added: "The record to me is secondary to the fact that I needed to come back and let everybody know I'm alive and well.
"Some of my old band mates kind of dragged my name through the mud a little, so I figured that it was time for me to re-emerge and let everybody know I'm not dead."
Frehley – who plays two UK dates in April – will be the subject of a Story Behind The Song feature in the next edition of Classic Rock. Which song? That would be telling.
In a final piece of Ace news, word has it that he will play the second stage at Download – on the same day as Kiss!
Now what was the title of that new solo album again…?

the featured guest on "The Metal File" with Mike Metal this Friday
night, February 29 at midnight (technically Saturday morning) on CHOM 97.7 FM in
Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

In a recent interview with DelmarvaNow.com Ace stated about his current solo
tour, "Everyone in my new band is starting to lock in together and we all get along
great on and off the stage. Things are good. Sobriety helps. It's much easier for me to
tour now that I'm not waking up with a hangover every day.
"There's an old saying, 'The more you do, the more you can do.' I just think it's
important that I get out there and show everyone that I'm trying to make a comeback."
Regarding why he's not playing new songs on the current tour, he said, "I'm going to
wait until after the album comes out because I don't want everything on YouTube. I
don't think we'll really be able to add more than three new songs to the set anyway.
Everybody wants to hear certain songs from certain records. It's hard figuring out what to
drop."

reports that KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley — who twice starred
as The Phantom in the Toronto production of "The Phantom of the Opera" in 1999
— is in talks to star in "Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular".
Stanley, 56, is having a penthouse suite built atop Palms Place near suites owned
by pop singer Jessica Simpson and pro wrestling icon Hulk Hogan.
Stanley has been out front as a fundraiser and supporter for AboutFace, an
organization that helps raise awareness for individuals with facial differences. He was
born with Microtia, a congenital deformity of the pinna (outer ear).

About 3.000 additional tickets for the show in
Prague just went on sale. The venue holds about 18-19.000 people.
So far only 2-day tickets were available for the festival in Bilbao. Supposedly
there will be also single day tickets available starting from March 10th.
It may be possible, that additional shows will be added to the European tour. There
are still gaps in the touring schedule. June 16th was suppsed to be reserved for a show in
Belgium, which still has not been confirmed. The official press release mentioned shows in
17 countries. If this is correct, there are at least 2 more shows to be announced. So we
just have to wait and see...

Gene Simmons' legal team has taken an ingenious first
step in shutting down a website featuring a video that shows Gene in a sex act with a
woman who is not his longtime girlfriend, Shannon Tweed.
We're told Gene's lawyers contacted Webmastercentral.com, which is responsible for the
content on the website promoting the video -- ordering them to cease and desist because of
copyright infringement. How, you ask, is this copyright infringement? Gene's lawyers claim
the site had no right to use face paint to promote the skin flick, because face paint is a
KISS thing.
And now we're being told, the tape is old and the copyright owner is ... drum roll ...
Gene Simmons! Apparently, Gene got wind of the tape a few years back and bought the
rights. Who's the apprentice now?
BTW, the tape was shot without Simmons' permission or knowledge -- and may well be
illegal. That's why TMZ hasn't run it.

the producer of KISS Symphony CD/DVD, Mark Opitz. Mr. Opitz discusses his
collaboration with KISS in 2003. Here’s an excerpt of the interview:
Rockpages.gr: What was your first reaction when KISS approached you to produce one of the most bizarre musical combinations: rock n roll + classical music?
Mark Opitz: Australian promoter Michael Gudinski recommended me to KISS. My reaction was not one of the bizarre but of the size and scope of the project. The actual audio recording alone required 3 tracks and a team of 12 engineers plus crew. The video side added at least another 40. The mix of rock and classical is not a new concept so that part didn’t concern me as much as making sure we captured every note.
Rockpages.gr: Did you have the chance to spend time with KISS? If yes, what do you remember from them and how you would characterize each one of them?
Mark Opitz: We did
spend a lot of time with KISS. After the recording of the event, we spent a week with them
reviewing the material and fixing some technical errors. During that time there was a lot
of one on one and I am sure a mutual respect developed. After that we flew to L.A. for 2
months to put the whole thing together for the DVD, CD, TV etc. During this time it was
Gene and Paul who we would see maybe once a day for lunch and chat at the studio. We did
spend time in Paul’s home for a quiet dinner with him and his lovely lady. Paul is
the main music guy and Gene is the big picture guy in the relationship. Of course, there
is also the manager Doc McGhee. I found Peter to be a really nice guy who was just really
happy to be there and taking part. Tommy Thayer is the ultimate professional and very easy
to work with. Overall there is a much focused feeling about them all.

The tour will start in Oberhausen on May 9th. Here is the link to

The Arena where Kiss will play in Prague supposedly has been renamed from
"Sazka" to "O2 Arena" on February 4th and it will see changes in the
building in March. However, the show is in June and then it will be definately called
"O2 Arena". Here
is the link to the Czech promoter, where it says "O2 Arena". It
holds about 18.000 people.
Kiss will play in Moscow at the Olympissky, that's a big indoor venue, which holds about 20.000 people.
Concerning the venue in St. Petersburg, as already reported from the beginning, they will
play at "Ledovij Dvorec", which is the same as "New
Arena". For international press it is usually called "New Arena".

ACE FREHLEY PREPS SOLO ALBUM

Guitarist Ace Frehley, who got sober after leaving Kiss again in 2002, is in the midst of
recording his first solo album since 1990, with a planned April release, he tells
Billboard.com.
Frehley, who is recording the as-yet-untitled album at his home studio in Westchester,
N.Y., aims to have it finished by Feb. 20, when he starts a North American concert tour.
He reports he is currently negotiating with "two or three record labels" to put
it out but says he'll release it first through his official web site, which is currently
being revamped, and perhaps also via iTunes.
"Basically, I'm trying to get back into the mindset I was in when I did my first solo
record [1978's 'Ace Frehley']," Frehley says. "That record seemed to have all
the elements everybody liked -- a real cool instrumental, a hit single, some real heavy
rockers, a nice variety of different genres of music."
Among his favorite new tracks are "A Little Below the Angels," hard rocking
"Pain in the Neck," and an instrumental called "Fractured Quantum"
which is a follow-up to his previous instrumentals "Fractured Mirror" and
"Fractured Too." Another favorite is "groove song" titled
"Genghis Khan,"
which he likens in tone to Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir." Don't expect to hear any of
the new songs at his concerts, however.
"Every show's on YouTube, every song," explains Frehley, who used 12-step
programs and a personal physician and therapist care to clean up after he left Kiss for a
second time in 2002. "I don't want to play any of the new songs 'cause I don't want
to give away anything. I want that magic and mystique of hearing something for the first
time when you're supposed to, so I don't think I'm going to play any of [the new songs]
until the CD's released."
Instead Frehley will play a set filled with Kiss favorites he wrote, plus material from
his previous solo releases. He admits some ambivalence about doing "Cold Gin,"
" 'cause I don't drink anymore and I don't promote it. But it's such a kick-ass
song... I think that me talking about the fact I'm clean and sober and I'm not a party
animal anymore is plenty. I can still get away with playing it."

Tonight at midnight (UK time) the line-up for
this years Download festival in Donington, England (June 13 - 15) will be revealed here... so in a
few hours from now we will now, if Kiss will play there or not.

STOCKHOLM SHOW TO BE CONFIRMED
MONDAY?
According to Kissarmysweden.com, the Kiss concert in Stockholm could be officially
confirmed on Monday and tickets will possibly go on sale next week as well. Reliable
sources also say, that the concert in Verona, Italy is a done deal also. All infos about
the concerts will be posted here as soon as possible. A direct link to buy tickets for the
German concerts will be posted here as soon as they become available.

INFO ON THE ITALIAN SHOW IN
VERONA
Verona is located in the south of Innsbruck. Rumours say, a Kiss concert will take
place at the "Arena" there on May 13th. Here is a pic of the venue:

BILL BAKER'S ACE FREHLEY
ARCHIVES UPDATE

Bill Baker is back with his first update of 2008!
Seeing as it was a New Year, we decided to give the site a new look. Hope everyone out
there likes the new design!
So what’s new on our planet? The all new Fractured Mirror 2 disc DVD set. This set
covers all the eras of the world's only Ace Frehley tribute band from the beginning up to
the last show. We went through all of the video we had, and picked out quite a variety of
songs and clips. It also shows the Ace Frehley Archives museum that was featured at many
of the 90's Kiss Expos, rare rehearsal footage of Fractured Mirror and unreleased Ace
Frehley concert footage that came direct from Bill Baker's Archives. A must for any Ace
fan!
We also have a source for Lightning Bolt guitar straps, made by Jodi Head and a replica
Ace Love Gun costume, made by 'Space Ace' Paul Helms. This replica costume is the best
that is out there on the market! Check the photos out and see for yourself.
With the Ace Frehley 'Ultimate Fan Scrapbook' still in the works, (but getting closer to
being done...) I've dug into my Archives and now have another 2 pages of Ace photos for
all you fans to see. Some rare old Kiss photos and Ace solo era photos are now online!
Bill will also be at the New York Kiss Expo on May 3rd and will be taking pre-orders
there, so stop by and say Hello!
