20 YEARS OF REVENGE

BraveWords.com will mark the passing of this landmark record with a five-part series of interviews conducted in the last couple of weeks with the major players on the disc as well as a few musicians that you may not know took part in the album’s recording sessions. Our first such surprise is Tommy Thayer. Many may know Tommy as the current Spaceman of KISS, but back in 1992, he was Gene Simmons’ protégé and former guitarist for the band BLACK N’ BLUE. Tommy’s role on the album was limited to adding backing vocals on a few tracks along with his former Black N’ Blue singer, Jaime St. James.

"I WILL BE THERE" VIDEO WITH UNIQUE FOOTAGE

I edited this video for my old TV show, "Gido-Blaster & The Habitual Offenderz" back in the mid 90s after the song and album leaked. However, as you know it would be a long while before the album with better quality audio would be officially released entitled, "Carnival Of Souls."

Video elements contain footage of myself (when I had long hair) with the band from the Palms hotel pre-show party in Phoenix, Arizona. The books were made by another huge fan & I believe these spawned the seed for the KISStory books and their design. Check it out!

KISS TO PLAY LONDON HMV FORUM CLUB IN LONDON ON JULY 4

Metal Talk can exclusively announce that Kiss are in negotiations to play at the London HMV Forum on July 4th.

Tickets for the event will go on sale within the coming weeks and are sure to sell out quickly. The band are playing the low key show as an apology to fans after the cancellation of the UK Sonisphere Festival which was to have been their only European show this year.

The new Kiss album 'Monster' will be released in June, they tour with Motley Crue and the Treatment in the US through the Summer, followed by European dates either later this year or early 2013.

The KISS Dynasty is a project FOR - WITH and THROUGH Kiss fans.
Joe (my friend and bass player in my band) started off with taking KISS to another dimension a while ago.
He remixed DYNASTY in a very special way but WITH respect for the band.
He did some loose tracks next to Dynasty and bundled them on Mark St. John's Lonely Arts Carr Band (with a wink towards the Beatles).
One of those tracks on it is BETH a co-work with KISS fans from all over the world who actually sing chorusses on it: Joe mailed the track to different members of his myspace community and asked them to record their voice.
He got the recordings mailed back and that's how Beth was re-mixed. He made a Sgt.peppers-like cover with pics of Kiss fans and important Kiss-people on it to go with it.
After the changes within Myspace he decided now to open up a Facebook Page to share his work with all the KISS fans all over the world… No money involved just paying tribute to KISS and the KISS army…
As he just started this FB page I told him about your website (which really is the best KISSpage on the net in my opinion) and I promised him to ask you if you please could spread the word…
As I'm writing this I just got a call from Joe that he started with re-mixing music from The Elder…

DOUG ALDRICH ON HIS KISS AUDITION

Greece’s Rockpages Web Magazine did an exclusive interview with the Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich. As you probably know, Doug was one of the numerous guitarists that auditioned for KISS back in 1982. Here’s what Doug remembers from that period:

Rockpages.gr: In 1982 you auditioned for the replacement of Ace Frehley in KISS. Describe to us the whole experience and do you remember which songs did you play together?

Doug Aldrich: I remember meeting the drummer (ed.note: Eric Carr) and he invited me to come down the rehearsals and meet Paul (Stanley) and Gene (Simmons). I was a kid…I was only 17-18 years old. I was nervous because no one had ever seen them without their make-up…they were really protective about the whole thing. I remember being afraid of looking them at their faces when they were speaking to me (laughs)! I don’t even remember what they really looked like because I didn’t have the guts to look them at the face (laughs)! But…they were very nice. When I walked into the room, Paul and Gene were singing together in their mics. They were working on “Creatures of the Night”…I remember at a point where Gene came up to me and said: “Can you play this solo on a major scale”? I said…“major scale…what’s that”? He goes: “do, re, mi…”…I said: “Ah, OK…I know that” (laughs)! I will never forget that…then we played “Detroit Rock City”, “Firehouse” and “Black Diamond”. You know…these were the three songs that we played together and to tell you the truth I didn’t even know about “Black Diamond”. I loved the song! I was more of a Zeppelin fan…but “Black Diamond” at the time was their…let’s say…“Free Bird” or their “Stairway to Heaven”. Paul and Gene loved that song. Let’s see what else I remember…oh yeah…I remember walking into the rehearsal room and it was huge! It was like an arena! It was their stage and Marshall amps stacked up to the roof! They called me back a couple of days later and they asked me to learn “Calling Dr. Love” and something else…so I came back for a second time and I was really nervous because I thought that maybe I had a chance. You must remember that I have never done an audition in my life up to that point. In the end, it didn’t work out because I was too young. I was really a kid and they were already superstars.

PAUL STANLEY DROPS THE ROCK STAR ACT FOR FAMILY DAY OUT

GENE SIMMONS IN THE RUNNING TO PLAY ELVIS PRESLEY IN NEW MOVIE?

Gene Simmons, the front man for the ’70s iconic rock group, KISS, might soon be trading in his trademark black costume for Elvis Presley’s white jumpsuit.  Simmons, 62, is rumored to be in the running to play The King of Rock and Roll in a new movie called, “Elvis Came Back to Manage Me.”

The film, written by South Florida writer Jay Schorr, is about a struggling country singer who suddenly finds that his career is being helped along by the spirit of Elvis Presley.  After it’s revealed that the singer is the King’s illegitimate son, a series of cosmic events ensues with profound repercussions for father, son and the fabric of American society.

“I think Gene would be perfect for the role,” said Schorr.  “He’s dynamic, has a commanding presence and is wildly talented; all Elvis hallmarks.”

GENE SIMMONS WINS "GOLDEN GOD" AWARD

VINNIE VINCENT PERSONAL AUDIO TAPES OF RARE TRACKS UP FOR AUCTION

A set of audio cassette tapes that had previously been owned by Vinnie Vincent are up for auction this week on eBay. Tapes include rare tracks of demos and unreleased songs directly off the master studio tapes. Best of all, many of the song titles on the cassette sleeves are written in Vinnie’s handwriting! KISS rocker Paul Stanley became a father of four. He and his wife, Erin, welcomed daughter Emily Grace Stanley on Aug. 9, 2011, in Los Angeles. "Erin and I are once again blessed with the addition of Emily Grace to our family," Stanley said in a statement. "I'm not sure she can sing but her first screams let me know she's definitely Daddy's Girl." Emily joins siblings Sarah Brianna, 2, and brothers Colin Michael, 4, and Evan Shane, 17, Stanley's son from a previous relationship.

KISS ON "DANCING WITH THE STARS" ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY

Rock Week return to "Dancing with the Stars", with KISS opening the show with a spectacular performance of “Rock and Roll All Nite,” accompanied by the Troupe. Bringing lots of leather and lots of fire, the remaining ten couples will perform to some of the greatest Rock songs of all time, MONDAY, APRIL 9 (8:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
